Design concept and naval architecture of the trimaran Blue One 24’

1993
Concept and development for a small trimaran design around a central cockpit. An excellent boat for fast cruising, regattas and coastal sailing in day boat mode.
Organized around the cockpit allowing all maneuvers, are located 2 cabins with 1 simple berthing on the front and a double bunk on the aft. A bench - mess for 3 crews with his stove and its storages, completes the interior accommodation. Sober and radical, the Blue One’ 24 give priority to open air, free moorings and coastal camping.

The prototype, built in collaboration with the Espace Blue Ocean shipyard, in Saint Nazaire, was built in strip planking of Red Cedar / epoxy for the central hull and foam shaped for its floats, guaranteeing unsinkability.

  • Length 7.12 x 5.90 m in width
  • Weight of 785 kg for 1150 kg of displac.
  • Draught of 0.32 to 1.80 m
  • Sail from 39 to 65 m²

Just launched in July 1993 the Blue One 24’ is presented at the nautical Grand Pavois exhibition, where she is greeted with enthusiasm and curiosity by the press.

Industrial optimization of the prototype raises in September 1994, after its new presentation at La Rochelle, the start building of the Blue One 25’ V2 for a Dutch customer. Pierre J. Kubis ensures development and assistance from the yard during the winter of 1995.

The Blue One 24’ continues today to scratch the skin of the devil, in the hands of her designer, close to the blue waters of the Glénan’s archipelago.
